About Kanata Lakes
Kanata Lakes is a dynamic and vibrant community of friendly neighbours, active residents and open spaces. We’re located north of Highway 417 in the former City of Kanata and are part of the Kanata North ward of the post-amalgamation City of Ottawa.
Kanata Lakes is characterized by a balance of growth and prosperity with family, recreation and the natural environment. Our community has a significantly higher than average household income and lower unemployment rate than Ottawa as a whole. We’re a short drive from the Kanata North Business Park (“Silicon Valley North”), the largest business park in the National Capital region and home to many of the city’s high-tech companies. With a positive annual population growth rate and new housing and commercial developments on the way, we have a very promising and exciting future!
Although we're growing, we also value our green space. There are a wealth of parks, wooded areas and walking trails within our community and we’re a stone’s throw from the South March Highlands, 600 protected acres of Canadian Shield acquired by the city in 2001.
Our residents are never in want of activities to fill their leisure time. In addition to unsurpassed, year-round opportunities for outdoor recreation, Kanata Lakes boasts Ottawa’s largest movie theatre and the third largest shopping centre in the city.
In our opinion, Kanata Lakes is the best place to live in Ottawa. And it’s up to us, residents and members of the Kanata Lakes Community Association, to make it even better!
The KLCA is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization representing the entire community of Kanata Lakes. Our purpose is to make the community a better place to live by acting on behalf of the community interests of all residents. We will fulfil this objective by providing a local public forum for the discussion of neighbourhood issues, ideas and suggestions (including arranging formal liaisons with civic and commercial interests when appropriate) and by acting as a direct and powerful link between Kanata Lakes residents and elected city officials.
